Diet Fuel Archives

Yes, I'm another person looking to drop a few pounds. For the vain reason that I am going to hawaii in a month, and for the slightly less vain reason that I when I was 10 pounds lighter my 10K time was 10 minutes faster.

I am currently training for a triathlon and working out 5-7 times a week. But, I swear, for every calorie I burn I just eat more. Exercising makes me so fricking hungry!

So, how do I cut calories without affecting my training. I don't want to bonk.

so, aside from the obvious ( cutting out sweets, fried foods, alcohol, and high fat dairy)
any ideas on what my diet should look like? basically I am looking for some.. highly nutrituous, satisfying meals that, while lower in overall calories, will still keep me fueled for training.

ripped fuel extreme experience?

id just like to know everyones experiences with this fat burning product. EPHEDRA FREE. i have it and may use it tomorrow along with a good diet and jogging 60 min. a day for 3 weeks. im looking to loose about 10 pounds. please tell me everything you know and stuff. and i know diet pills are bad. i just would like to know.

I've been on a diet where I consume anywhere from 700-1200 calories a day, and burn 1000-2000 calories via treadmill, biking and medicine ball exercises. I noticed this was helping me go from 198 to 180, but then it stopped working. So, for the past two weeks my weight hasnt went down, meanwhile I am eating very little and exercising like crazy (7 mile bike rides + 1 hour on the treadmill everyday). I figured i was taking enough calories so it was my body telling me I needed more fuel if I want to lose weight and I went to 1200-2000 calories a day, and the same level of exercise. Still no good. I'm gonna go on a liquid diet until I reach 170. This liquid smoothie diet. The smoothie will consist of:

grounded flaxseed
fiber powder
protein powder
1 cup of berries
& grean tea

I will be living off of this drink for the next two weeks. As the time on the diet is winding down I will introduce foods to my body slowly by only eating fruits and veggies. I think overall this will help me transition to veganism as well as lose weight.

Tell me what you guys think.

I do mainly cardio and i know my muscles need the carbs cause they are the fuel that is used
i dont what to eat any carbs that means even complex unrefined so the main question is it ok
do i just not eat after and let the diet do the work
or is there some trick i could use (or eat) so i dont feel like i just ran marathon after a hour workout
if it is normal i dont mind feeling the fatigue i just want to lose the weight

I've decided to start working on my belly a bit; however, it seems counter intuitive to start restricting calories right way. To me, it seems to be the quickest way to failure. Afterall, why would I start out by tearing down an already out of shape and inefficient system right out of the gate.

Should I wait until a couple of months before reducing my fuel intake?

What do you guys think?

How to diet in high school?

I"ve never realy been "fat" but always been kind of chubby. I want to lean down and lose the gut/baby fat left on my face and finally slim down.

My only problem is now that I'm ready, I don't have the time for my diet. A typical day lasts from 6-5 (up at 6, dont get out til 5 thanks to track practice) and I've been living off cereal, sandwiches and the cafeteria at my school is my only fuel for the 9-10 hr day. The food is the least bit healthy; they don't even offer salad.

I already tried packing a lunch, but all there is to pack is just sandwiches. Starving myself isn't an option either, I do sports. A lot of em.

Any suggestions? Should I just stock up on Nutri-grains for the rest of the day? I have prom coming up, I did think I'd be slim by now.

Thanks.

Recommended Pre fast/pure detox diet for a guy.?

I'm a young guy and recently I've decided to undergo an extended fast in order to quit smoking, (3 years, pack a day) as well as to regain my old level of health.

I was curious what my regular diet should be leading up to that, I'm not picky at all about what I eat (I had my fun over the holidays and willpower isn't an issue).

Doesn't really matter how awful it tastes, I'm just looking at food as fuel for the time, I just need the absolute healthiest way to go about things for before and after the fast.

I've heard raw vegetables and fruits are the way to go (although not sure which ones) and have just been eating those for the last few days, but feels like I'm missing quite a bit in my diet.

Anyways, any recommendations would be great.
I've heard pretty good things about that lemonade drink, but I was planning on a straight water fast.

Also, I would prefer not to take any kits/vitamins/pills/etc.

as for red meat, I've completely given up meat of all sorts. (I used to eat steak regularly, and love it, but was impressed with how I felt after abstaining from it for a while)

This isn't for weight loss (I'm 6"2 and 200 pounds), although I'd expect it would be a nice side effect of a new diet. Moreso I want to increase my energy level, alertness, and clarity while getting back in shape.

this is in preparation for me doing some traveling later this year, and needing to be in absolute top condition.

Atkins Diet…. advice??

but my question is my urine is dark colour, i heard this is because iam burning fat instead of carbs for my body fuel... is this right ??
iam drinking loads of water every day at work no fizzy jiuce etc, but it was clear this morning and now its dark colour... i get plenty of fluids...so dont think its lack of water... i drink at least 5 50cl bottles a day and more at home..

A Diet For Dealing With Stress?

1. If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.

2. If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are canceled out by the diet soda.

3. When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you do not eat more than they do.

4. Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER counts, such as hot chocolate ,brandy, toast and Sara Lee Cheesecake.

5. If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

6. Movie related foods do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel. Examples: Milk Duds, Buttered Popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots and TootsieRolls.

7. Cookie pieces contain no calories. The process of breaking causes calorie leakage.

8. Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something.

9. Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples are: Spinach & Pistachio Ice Cream; Mushrooms and Mashed Potatoes.

10. Chocolate is a universal color and may be substituted for any other food color.

11. Anything consumed while standing has no calories. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.

12. Anything consumed from someone else's plate has no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to his/her plate. (We all know how calories like to cling!)

no carb diet seems impossible for me..?

ok im 15 years old i play hockey, lacrosse and football and i am 6ft, 183pds. i want to lose a few pounds of fat and try to sacrifice as little muscle as possible. the no carb diet seems impossible for me because i am still growing and i need my minerals and vitamans and i need carbs to fuel me in sports because i am aware of the performance loss in a no carb diet. so my question is will i still be able to lose fat at a semi rapid pace if i eat about six meals a day each meal ranging from 300-500 calories with at least 20g of protein,20gcarbs and little fat and still be able to lose fat while i weightlift, sprint and train in preseason with my football team everyday? thanks

I've been trying to do the raw foods diet since Easter Sunday, and I've tracked what I eat, and the problem is that I burn like 4000++ calories a day and I'm only taking in like 1500-2000 even if I"m eating all day long. Like today I walked probably 5 hours + weight training! I am just not getting enough FUEL to get me through my day.. I'm not worried about protein, if I can eat enough FOOD, I"ll get enough protein.
I've noticed that a lot of the people advocating the raw foods diet are these little bitty people like runners(thrive diet..) , they aren't weightlifter/body builder types that weigh like 250+ pounds..
any ideas" -I'm already familiar with some of the vegan bodybuilding web sites, and I've learned a lot from them..

thanks

Hi, so my friend went on a low (no carb really) carb diet and the doctor said when there are no carbs, your body switches to ketosis, and attacks body's fat reserves for energy.. so... just mathematically speaking, if as an average weight, average height female i need around 2200 calories per day to stay alive, walk around, do basic things, and my body is in ketosis, does it use ANY of the calories from teh food i eat? cause i'm thinking, if there are no carbs in my diet, the giant fat and protein molecules (which is all i'm eating) can't get broken down easily, since there are no sugars and carbs to be used for fuel... so does that mean my body will ignore what's in my stomach? all or some of its calories? and does that mean that if all of it is ignored, my body is burning 2200 calories a day for fuel from my body fat? it 'would' make sense, since my friend was losing about 2/3lb per day (one lb is 3500), 2200/3500 = approx 2/3
please shed some light, thank you!
Hi AliciaR
Yes, it's actually the Atkin's diet, phase 1 (induction)... for 2 weeks you eat no more than 20g of carbs per day..
so i bought these jumbo wieners, each has 2 grams.. so i can eat 10 of those a day
eggs have 0.3, so you can eat like 67!
some luncheon meats, chicken, beef, fat, olive oil, mayo have zero, so u can eat unlimited..
my first 3 days on the diet i lost 7lbs, and i would have lost more if i drank more water (you have to, or you'll get constipated w/o any veggies).. but yes, look online at foods or read labels.. hidden carbs EVERYwhere.. as long as 20g or less, you're golden :)
i honestly forget when i start the diet, it's not a diet, i eat like a PIG, a plate full of bacon, cheeses, as long as you eat no carbs, there's no quantity limit :)
look into it, it's actually a sweet lifestyle! butter, cream, all kinds of meat, it's like, everything in a sandwitch, minus the bread LOL!

Why am I feeling nauseous after big meals?

Twice now i've been sick to the point of vomiting after a day where I eat a little more than the next.
My diet is heavy in fruits, vegetables, and yogurt.
I've lost a good 20 pounds over the course of 2 months, maybe that may be fueling this illness, any help?

I'm a 20 year old male who has been on and off atkins. I have lost 70 lbs and kept it off for over 2-3 years, and now I've gotten back on to shed a few pounds Ive gained over the past months to get back in shape and feel good. My question is, since my body is in ketosis and is using fat for fuel, what happens if I take in for example 5-6 g. of carbs total by eating some cheese? Even though my body is in ketosis, and it's said that it will continue that way until I go above a pretty decent amount of carbs (20g is the rule of thumb given in Atkins books). Again, I'm curious as to what will happen with those carbs, and just exactly happens (I understand the process of ketosis, I just don't understand the relationship between diets that are low in fat/loads of carbs and low-carb/no fat. I always thought of it as if you mix em' you're screwed). Will the carbs I take in during ketosis be burned off as well and be negated or will they just turn to extra fat and end up being burned of anyhow?
It is a repost, and noone answered it, but I still haven't found any real description of what exactly happens. I'm interested in know what happens to carbs once they are inside a body in a state of ketosis :D thanks

Diet Rules For Cheaters…how do you cheat?

If you eat something and no one sees you eat it, it has no calories.

If you drink a diet soda with a candy bar, the calories in the candy bar are cancelled out by the diet soda.

When you eat with someone else, calories don't count if you don't eat more than they do.

Food used for medicinal purposes NEVER count, such as hot chocolate, brandy, toast and Sara Lee Cheesecake.

If you fatten up everyone else around you, then you look thinner.

Movie related foods (Milk Duds, Buttered Popcorn, Junior Mints, Red Hots, Tootsie Rolls, etc.) do not have additional calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel.

Cookie pieces contain no fat-- the process of breaking causes fat leakage. Exception: Cookies sold by TEXAS D'LITES distributors. Great "Meal Replacement" with little or no FAT content, low in calories, lots of fiber, protein, and other nutritional ingredients.

Things licked off knives and spoons have no calories if you are in the process of preparing something. Examples are peanut butter on a knife making a sandwich and ice cream on a spoon making a sundae.

Foods that have the same color have the same number of calories. Examples are: spinach and pistachio ice cream; mushrooms and white chocolate. NOTE:

Chocolate is a universal color and may be substituted for any other food color.

Foods that are frozen have no calories because calories are units of heat. Examples are ice cream, frozen pies, and Popsicles.
oh i wish these were true, lol

Help rate this diet:

I am a 16 year old male and have recently decided to drastically alter my diet in order to help me achieve my goals as an athlete and a footballer.

My questions are:
- am I receiving enough vitamins and minerals each day?
- Is there enough fat and sugar in my diet?
- Are there any aspects of a healthy diet I am neglecting?
- Finally, would you reccomend any changes to my diet?

Keep in mind that I am training and playing football (soccer) for 2-3 hours each day.

Best answer will receive ten points.

My current diet (usually) consists of something like:

Breakfast:
4 weet-bix with 400mL of low-fat milk and honey a small banana

Snack before lunch:
Usually an apple, mandarin, and a few almonds or cashews

Lunch:
Wholegrain sandwich with either salmon or lettuce and cheese

Pre-Dinner Snack:
3 Wholegrain pieces of bread with only tomato (no butter, salt)

Dinner:
This meal obviously varies, but I often have beans, peas, carrots, chicken breast, potatoes, and rice, or vegetable soup.

After Dinner Snack:
Yoghurt (100g and 94cal), and a piece of Raisin bread (without butter if toasted)

I also take Vitamin C (1000mg) and Zinc (22mg) tablets daily, and constantly drink bottled water - about 2 litres each day.

I have eliminated almost all unhealthy foods from my diet: no chocolate, no cereals (except weet-bix), no juices, no cakes, no butter, no chips, no crackers, no cookies.. basically nothing that doesn't help fuel my body as an athlete.

Thanks in advance, and I look forward to your responses.

Since hearing from my recruiter that military is about to select me for OCS in about a month, I'm now in a hurry to lose 20-30 pounds or 8% body fat to make the cut or else they'll change their mind on picking me. I already know about mixing in even amount of lifting and cardio days each week. I hear better to do cardios on empty stomach cuz your body will fuel up on some of your body fat rather than calories you may have taken in from eating first.

With the dieting, I know I gotta lay off foods that are junk, got flour, starch, or sugar. I heard it's ok to indulge one day a week; should I even keep those cheat days moderate as well? So far I've been eating 5-6 portioned meals/day (spread out by 1.5-2 hours apart): fruits/veggies, soy protein powder mixed with milk, protein RTDs, protein bars, etc...

Recruiter suggested I double (or even triple) the cardio workouts to double (or triple) the calorie-burning, even wear a trash bag on me.
I also hear trying to get enough sleep helps with a speedy weight loss as well. What if I have some scheduling conflict (summer classes in morning and work in late night)? On top of proper diet and exercise, would I lose weight faster working out first thing for the day on empty stomach and not enough sleep, or get enough sleep by another hour or two, eat first, and then workout some time later?
I know definitely good idea to stick with water for fluids. Will drinking diet soda on cheat days interfere with the weight loss effort?
I've heard from this one Army guy (I'm trying out for Navy) that besides proper diet and exercising regularly, he sometimes lay an iron (low heat) on his stomach. Does that really help in the weight loss or burning fat?

Nobody still answered this question. Which way is faster in losing weight?
a) Not enough sleep, workout on empty stomach, and then eat after
b) Enough sleep, eat first, workout after
