How do i lose 70 lbs?
I want to lose 70 lbs and have a few questions...?
The weight gain happened so gradual over two years that I didn't notice until lately. I am concentrating on 20 lbs at a time and am just starting to watch what I eat.
I just got a puppy and walk him everyday for about 30 minutes for the last three weeks and it has done nothing. I think I need much more exercise. What is suggested for someone who is out of shape? To go balls to the wall, like on the The biggest Loser, or to go gradual with exercise?
Also, do the diet pills really work? I have cortislim and have just started to use it just to see, but are the ones that are better or are they even worth it?
Thanks!

Also, how much time should I allow myself to lose 20 lbs per increment?
2 months sound fair?

Also, I have heard that for my weight and height, a 1840 calorie diet is good to start. I am 230lbs and 5'8". Does this sound about right?

Do not go balls to the wall, but you don't have to be slow about starting a workout regimen. I suggest cardio– you've got a great start with walking your dog, but running would be better. You can also dance, swim, bike, jump rope… anything that really gets your heart pumping is going to help melt off the fat.
DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS. Diet pills are a crock, and you will feel SO much better if you do this diet naturally! That means diet and exercise. So do the cardio, and start eating right. Keep away from those fake, caffeine filled pills.
Eating right is incredibly important. Cut out fast food, junk food, processed food, sodas and carbonated drinks, etc. Don't even drink diet, it's terrible for ya!
You need to start replacing your current diet with
veggies
whole grains
lean proteins
fruits
healthy snacks
I've got a whole list of things I buy if you are interested, feel free to email me. Water is important too! I get 2 big sports water bottles, and fill them up and make sure I drink it everyday. If you don't like water (I didn't) you will learn to love it. I crave it now! : )
Don't be too strict with yourself though. Be sure to give yourself a little cheat room. On Saturday, I let myself "cheat" and indulge in things I've been craving during the week. Don't go crazy, but let yourself vent, or else you'll end up binging.
As for how many calories, for your size, I would start with 1200-1500 calories a day. Thats what I'm on, and I was almost your size when I started my diet on Easter. I have currently lost 24 lbs since then.
Safe weight loss is about 1-2 lbs a week, but bigger gals like us can usually drop a little more at first, and then it'll taper off. So expect about 8 lbs a month, on average.
I would invest in a scale as well. BUT do not weigh yourself everyday, it will make you paranoid!! Which, of course can be counterproductive to weightloss. Weigh yourself ONCE a week (I weigh myself the morning of cheat day) it's nice to see your weight drop in one big amount.
I applaud you for attempting this, you CAN do it. You may want to join up at Sparkpeople.com. It's free, and they help you figure out how many calories you really need, and plan out how long it will take you to lose the weight you want to. I think by Christmas, you will be very happy with the way you look if you do this stuff!!
Go get you a smokin hot bod!!!!
2 months? no. try half a year (at least). losing the weight at a very fast rate is not healthy.
to lose it: you need clean diet, cardio and weight lifting exercises.
before you start, you should talk to your doctor to make sure that you're in good physical health (ex: possible heart problems).
Run a lot. First start off with 1 lap around a high school track near you. Then increase the amount of laps as your stamina increases. Eventually a mile to 2 miles is a good steady pace, and you will gradually lose weight.
Lots of walking, water and more fibre.
I suggest that you take time to find a good guide on weight loss and dieting. I can recommend one to you and I will post a link to my blog where I talk about issues like these at the bottom.
Think of it like this… if you follow the instructions on the blog weight loss and dieting should only take one attempt. Why go through frustrating struggles and risk injury when you can do it the right way.
Feel free to drop by and leave me a question or comment. I hope you will have the same results that I did!
