Eating habits/diet for MMA fighter?
I weigh 155lbs...I prefer to keep myself at fight weight rather than cut weight when a match comes around. I've tried eating multiple small meals a day and hell, it works for maintaining weight! The problem is the fact I don't have the time to eat 5 to 6 times a day so I adjust it to 4 and just eat a well proportioned meal...the problem is that I'm always hungry because those small meals just don't fill me up. Come on...we're athletes and are constantly training...we need fuel therefore require large meals! Is it bad to eat 3 regular meals a day...I just don't like being hungry all day! And I'm not trying to make excuses for eating junk like chips, cokes, and candy...I mean real food! Do any of you follow regular eating habits and still keep a stable weight...I'd like to hear the different diets or eating habits from experienced fighters...help me out guys! What do you all do?

I fight at 185lbs, but walk around at 193lbs. I maintain my weight by just eating right 4 times a day. I do usually have bigger portions also (mostly meats & greens). When preparing for a fight I really don't cut down on portions. The main things I do is to stop all refined surgars in my diet, and do more cardio during my workouts. I find that this drops me down to 185 easily. I never have had to dehydrate myself for a weigh in.
I'm an amateur MMA fighter and have been training since last October. I also like to stay at fight weight which is 160. I usually eat normally with meals rich in protein. The protein helps to keep you full longer. I like to eat tuna alot. That really keeps me full for a while. Before training, I like to eat peanut butter and jelly and a banana. The carbs give you the energy and the peanut butter and banana keeps you from getting that hungry feeling too quickly.
I like to eat alot of chicken, potatoes, pasta, rice, and spinach. Some say to keep the carbs down, but at our weight, and if you have a high metabolism, it really won't affect your weight too much. Try eating more tuna. It will definitely keep you feeling full.
