ok there is religious fasting. you might miss a meal or a day of meals. it is to sacrafice in order to get an answer to your prayer. it is supposed to clear your mind and body to be receptive to the holy spirit. there is a cleansing fast. where you dont eat but you might drink water or juice. that is just a attempt to detox your body. both are ok when done in moderation. now you have some people who fast for like a week, i say thats called anorixia! it can be damagin to your body. you are starving yourself. so if you dont get nutrients your body can start eating itself. it will start to eats its own muscle. so if you wanted to do it for religious reason just do it for a day max. if its to detox… there are alot better options such as goin vegan for a week or two and drinking nothing but pure juice and water. now if its healthy diet or fasting, i would suggest healthy diet. your matabolism will drop if you starve yourself. your body will try to save all the fat you have to process into energy thus the meta. drops so you dont burn calories as quickly. fasting can cause diziness, head aches, fainting and digestion problems.
Headache. Your body will be cleansing itself of toxins. Drink plenty of spring water during this time, and try to fast at least 3 days. It is good for you. Take it easy!
Well, there are several things that occur. First, your body is in a constant catabolic state breaking down glycogen(stored sugar), fat or protein if all fuels run out. If a person is malnourished to begin with it is very difficult to carry on fasting for long since they have no energy reserves built up. A person can be less involved in physical activity and more prone to illness due to the lack of nutrients.
the easy source of glucose runs out and the body will have to rely on fat reserves first and then protein from muscle and on to organs. Toxic compounds would start to build up.
You would feel lathargic and probably would get really bad breath lol.
