thats because capstar only last for 24 hrs it is great to get rid of the fleas that they already have but it needs to be followed with something like Frontline Plus or Advantage from your vet for flea prevention. capstar works in one hour but the catch is the effect only lasts for a day so if it isnt followed up with a monthly flea prevention like Frontline or Advantage it is useless and capstar can be given once a week

Hi, I feed my dogs rice with a bit of Garlic in as I do find that garlic in there feed helps keep the fleas away for a while..
It is however harder if you have ground fleas, you need to spread lime on the ground and keep it moist. Thanks. Bek

Please dont give your cat garlic as it can cause anemia just like onions. You need a longer lasting product because you are killing the fleas on the animals but then the flea eggs are hatching and replacing them. Treat the animals with something like advantage or frontline and consider doing your home with flea bombs to stop the cycle.
Good luck. I hope you can get rid of them and make your animals comfy again.

Capstar will only kill the live fleas that are on the animal, it will do nothing to prevent them from getting reinfested. You'll need to get a flea preventative for them, like Advantage or Frontline. Don't use the over the counter medications on either one of them – many of those products (especially those made by Hartz) have caused serious reactions including seizures and death for cats, not sure about dogs.
